Sindh government has finalized a tripartite agreement between the Local Government Department, the Health Department, and the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) to improve the registration of children’s births.
The primary aim of this agreement is to promote digital registration of children’s births across the province. Under the agreement, the Civil Registration Management System (CRMS) will be installed in all public health centers of the province, enabling timely and accurate information about newborns to be transferred from health centers to NADRA’s system.
This initiative has been taken to eliminate delays in birth registration and increase coverage. The agreement was signed by Secretary of Local Government Sindh Dr. Waseem Shamshad Ali, Secretary of Health Rehan Iqbal Baloch, and Director General of NADRA, Sindh Region, Ahtisham Shahid.
The signing ceremony was also attended by Minister of Local Government Saeed Ghani and Minister of Health Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho. Dr. Azra Pechuho and Saeed Ghani termed this initiative as key to improving public service delivery through departmental cooperation and the use of digital technology.
Dr. Azra Pechuho stated that this partnership will ensure every child receives a legal identity at birth, while the Minister of Local Government mentioned that it will also enable the provision of accurate data for policymaking.
