Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Professor Ahsan Iqbal, has called for the creation of the shortest trade links by road, rail, and sea with Central Asian States.
This initiative was discussed during the second consultative meeting of the Working Group on Multimodal Connectivity held in Islamabad.
Iqbal emphasized that implementing a multimodal connectivity network would enable Pakistan to expand its trade horizons. The proposed network aims to connect Central Asian countries to South Asian markets through strategic ports like Gwadar and Karachi.
This move is expected to facilitate increased trade flows and economic interaction between the regions. The meeting underscored the significance of enhancing regional connectivity to foster economic growth and strengthen Pakistan’s position as a pivotal trade hub.
