ISLAMABAD: Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to collectively overcome the challenge posed by floods.

Chairing a meeting of National Flood Response and Coordination Center here in Islamabad on Wednesday, he directed the relevant authorities to take steps on emergency basis to save the people from water borne diseases in the flood affected areas.

He said the process of damage assessment surveys should be accelerated for the rehabilitation of flood victims. He noted that accurate statistics through dashboard will prove to be very significant in the present situation.

The Minister for Planning said the Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and International Non-Governmental Organizations (INGOs) should also be activated to participate in the relief efforts. He asked the departments concerned to provide necessary information to the flood victims about relief camps.
