President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry, stated today that from the base camp of freedom, we assure the people of occupied Kashmir that every child of Azad Kashmir stands shoulder to shoulder with them in their struggle for freedom.
According to a statement issued from the AJK President’s Secretariat, Chaudhry said: This struggle will continue until occupied Kashmir is freed from India’s oppressive and illegal occupation.” He also assured that all political parties in Azad Kashmir are united and vocal on the Kashmir issue. Similarly, he expects that the Government of Pakistan and all its political parties will unite on the Kashmir issue and prioritize it.
Barrister Chaudhry said that he had made Kashmiri Studies a mandatory subject in all universities in Azad Kashmir and urged students and youth to highlight the ongoing atrocities and brutality in occupied Kashmir through social media. He called on the international community to play a role in ending India’s atrocities in occupied Kashmir and granting the Kashmiri people their right to self-determination. Since August 5, 2019, India has intensified human rights violations in occupied Kashmir, making the lives of the Kashmiri people unbearable.
He also condemned the increasing violence against minorities in India, including Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, and others. The Modi government’s policies of Hindutva have escalated severe repression in occupied Kashmir, pushing the Kashmiri population into a dire humanitarian crisis. The President emphasized the need for the international community to address these violations.
Chaudhry expressed his concern about the worsening situation for minorities in India, where the state-sponsored repression continues to grow. He also mentioned that India’s claim of being the world’s largest democracy is a facade, with the reality being one of authoritarian rule that oppresses its own people.
In his speech at a special meeting with the leadership of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), he praised their efforts in raising the Kashmir issue globally. He also highlighted the increasing violence by India, not just in occupied Kashmir but also against minorities within India and its involvement in terrorism globally.
The President concluded by asserting that the struggle for Kashmir’s freedom will continue, despite India’s brutal oppression, and that the global community must take notice and impose sanctions on India for its terrorism activities.
