President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry, today emphasized the European Union’s potential to play a pivotal role in resolving the Kashmir dispute, highlighting that peace in South Asia hinges on the resolution of this long-standing issue.

In a meeting issued from the President’s Secretariat, Chaudhry called on the Kashmiri diaspora in Europe to raise their voices more vigorously against the ongoing Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir and advocate for the resolution of the Kashmir issue at international forums.

He noted that the European Parliament had previously presented the Emma Nicholson Report, which documented large-scale human rights violations, including the discovery of mass graves in occupied Kashmir. He further reiterated that the European Parliament continues to raise concerns over human rights abuses in the region.

‘Given that both Pakistan and India are nuclear-armed states, any conflict, no matter how small, could trigger a catastrophic nuclear war,’ Chaudhry warned. He urged the international community, particularly the European Union, to play an active role in facilitating a peaceful resolution to the Kashmir dispute, ensuring long-term stability and peace in South Asia.

During the meeting, Chaudhry also directed the honorary presidential advisor to the European Union, Chaudhry Naseer Ahmed, to intensify efforts to highlight the Kashmir issue within the European Parliament and other international platforms.

Chaudhry Naseer Ahmed, in turn, extended an invitation to the President for a visit to Brussels, which was accepted by Chaudhry. The date for the visit will be announced shortly.
