Allama Iqbal gave message of self-respect, brotherhood, love, sacrifice and hard work through his poetry: Shahbaz Sharif

Lahore, November 10, 2016 (PPI-OT): Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has said that Poet of the East Allama Muhammad Iqbal gave a message of self-respect, brotherhood, love, sacrifice and hard work through his thought-provoking poetry and his philosophy is a bacon of light for the nation. He said that had the principles and ideals of Allama Iqbal been adopted 70 years ago, Pakistan would have reached the heights of progress and development. He said that it is time to learn from past mistakes and promote unity and solidarity to meet the challenges being faced by the country.

He was talking to media after visiting Mazar-e-Iqbal on Iqbal Day today. The Chief Minister said that though a lot of time has been wasted but it is still time to learn from mistakes to move forward. He said that there is a need to follow the eternal message of the great poet Allama Iqbal to achieve national objectives and regain the lost status of the country in the comity of nations. He said that it is time to adopt the philosophy of Iqbal in practical lives. He said that if the message of Allama Iqbal is followed in letter and spirit, every problem and hurdle could be overcome.

Shehbaz Sharif said that Pakistan is facing a number of internal and external challenges and it is high time to promote national unity, solidarity and harmony by setting aside mutual differences. He said that Allama Iqbal gave the message of peace and brotherhood and if his principles are adopted no one could create hurdles in the way of national progress and prosperity. He said that it is of vital importance to spread the message of Allama Iqbal and to remove disparity between the rich and poor and put an end to loot and plunder of national resources.

He said that it is necessary that a strict accountability of the looters and plunders should be carried out in a transparent manner. The Chief Minister said that Pakistani nation is very strong and capable and it has best brains, talented workforce as well as a brave and valiant army. He said that CPEC has brought a revolution in Pakistan and energy and other projects under CPEC are being completed expeditiously. He said that CPEC is guarantee to progress and development of the country.

He said that Pakistan could achieve its goal and become an Islamic welfare state in the real sense if the spirit of unity, brotherhood, solidarity and sacrifice is adopted. He said that the dream of Quaid and Iqbal will be realized and Pakistan will be able to achieve a respectable status in the world.

Replying to a question about sit-in on November 2, the Chief Minister said that the politically conscious people of the country completely rejected the protest call on November 2 and foiled the negative politics of sit-in politicians. He said that Pakistan will move forward and achieve its goal. Replying to another question, he said that the announcement to lockdown Islamabad was illegal and the people remained disassociated with it.
