Islamabad: Federal Minister Khurram Dastagir said that the court could not announce the date of the election, adding that it was the job of the election commission to announce the election date.
He stated these remarks during a visit to Child Protection Home in Gujranwala. The federal minister distributed Eid gifts to the children there.
“If negotiations can be held on any ground, it is only on the basis that we should make the elections of October 2023 transparent and free from [every] unconstitutional interference,” he stressed.
“And before the election, we all should agree that we accept the results of the election,” he added.
“In 2018, the way the sanctity of the vote was violated and the people’s mandate stolen, it has proved to be a disastrous and toxic experience for the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) parties and the people,” he deplored.
“So, we have to learn from this experience and make sure that in 2023, a government elected by the people is formed,” he emphasized.
