Anti-India demos, rallies in Islamabad, Muzaffarabad

Islamabad, August 15, 2020 (PPI-OT): An anti-India protest demonstration was held outside the Indian High Commission in Islamabad to mark India’s Independence Day as a Black Day, today. Convener of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter, Mustafa Muhammad Hussain led the protest demonstration.

The participants of the demonstration, expressed concern over the unjustified arrests and continued imposition of restrictions in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir by India. They said India will not be able to suppress the Kashmir liberation movement through military might and other cheap tactics.

Hurriyat leaders on the occasion said that Kashmir dispute was an issue concerning the right to self-determination of 1.5 crore Kashmiris recognised by the United Nations, India and Pakistan through the Security Council resolutions. They added that the international dispute could not be termed territorial or bilateral dispute.

The speakers said that India was conspiring to convert the Muslim majority of IIOJK into a minority but the people of Kashmir would never allow it to succeed in its nefarious designs. They deplored that India was committing genocide of Kashmiris by killing innocent youth as it was hell bent to change the demography of the occupied territory. They said that the sacrifices of Kashmiri people had centre-staged the Kashmir dispute at international level as it was being discussed in all important forums.

The Hurriyat leaders said that the Modi-led fascist Indian government had ended the special status of IIOJK in August last year and imposed military siege to implement its plan of settling Indian Hindus in the territory and change its demography. They appealed to the international community to help stop Indian atrocities and restore means of communications in IIOJK.

Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, Mehmood Ahmad Saghar, Engineer Mehmood, Sheikh Muhammad Yaqoob, Ishtiaq Hameed, Shamim Shawl, Altaf Ahmad Wani, Nazir Ahmed Karnai, Abdul Majeed Malik, Abdul Majeed Mir, Haji Muhammad Sultan, Imtiaz Wani, Adeel Mushtaq Wani, Sheikh Abdul Mateen, Advocate Pervez Ahmad, Syed Kifayat Rizvi, Mir Tahir Masood, Syed Ijaz Ahmad Shah, Hassan Al-Bana, Mian Muzaffar, Daud Khan Yousufzai, Zahid Ashraf, Gulshan Ahmad, Syed Mushtaq, Muhammad Shafi Dar, Manzoor-ul-Haq Butt, Zahid Safi, Rasheed Kazmi, Uzma Gul, Fida Kiyani and Khan Afsar Khan participated in the protest demonstration.

Another anti-India protest demonstration was held outside the National Press Club, Islamabad, today to mark India’s Independence Day as a black day. It was held under the auspices of various organisatuions including Jammu and Kashmir Right to Self-Determination Movement and Ittehad-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir.

The speakers including Hurriyat leaders, political leaders of Pakistan and Azad Kashmir and journalists deplored that India had been illegally occupying Jammu and Kashmir for last 73 years and had turned it into a prison where more than 8 million people had been besieged. Since August 5, 2019, the Indian government has imposed complete military siege in the territory, they added. The speakers said that Kashmiri people were sacrificing their lives for their birth right to self-determination and India was hell bent upon changing the demography as well as the ground realities in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Abdul Hameed Lone, Syed Manzoor Ahmad Shah, Syed Ejaz Rahmani, Altaf Hussain Wani, Muhammad Shafi Dar, Abdul Majeed Mir, Zahid Safi, Senator Semi Yazdi, Uzma Hameed Gul, Ambreen, Maria Iqbal Tarana, Khola Khan, Fida Hussain Kayani, Najeeb Ghafoor, Dr Nazia Niaz, Syed Yusuf Ali, Sardar Mazhar, Tayyaba Ibrahim, Sardar Shaukat and Mazhar Iqbal and others participated in the protest demonstration.

Meanwhile, the activists of Tehreek-e-Istiqlal Jammu and Kashmir, Refugee Action Committee and Young Mens League held protest demonstrations and rallies in Muzaffarabad to observe India’s Independence Day as a Black Day. The protesters holding posters and banners raised anti-India slogans. The rallies were led by Chairman of Refugees Students Organization and a central leader of J and K Young Mens League, Iqbal Ahmed Khan, and other leaders.

The speakers on the occasion highlighted the Indian brutalities and grave human rights violations by Indian forces especially after August 5, last year, when the Modi-led Indian government scrapped Kashmir’s special status and imposed military siege in the territory. They said that India would not succeed to subdue the freedom sentiment of the people of Kashmir through brutal tactics and they would continue their struggle for securing right to self-determination till complete success.

In Bagh, Azad Kashmir, Kashmiris observed Black Day on August 15 on the occasion of India’s Independence Day and held a rally against India. A large number of youth participated in the rally, which was led by Tariq Butt, Central Leader of Jammu and Kashmir Pir Panjal Freedom Movement and Manzoor Lone, Central Leader of Muhajireen Youth. The rally was also addressed by President of Muhajir Camp Chaudhry Farooq Aslam, Gulzar Butt and others.
