Anti-locust operations carried out in Balochistan, Sindh

Islamabad, August 16, 2020 (PPI-OT): The joint teams of National Locust Control Center have continued locust control operations in more than 1200 hectares of land in Balochistan and Sindh during the last 24 hours. According to National Locust Control Centre, these operations were carried out on 100 hectares of district Lasbella of Balochistan and 1100 hectares of land in district Tharparkar of Sindh. No Locust present has been recorded in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Similarly, more than two hundred fifty six thousand hectares of area has been surveyed during the last twenty four hours. In last 6 months, control operation has been carried out on more than eleven hundred thousand hectares of affected land. Migration of locust is expected from Rajasthan in India towards central and southern Punjab and also towards central Sindh.
