APDP demands whereabouts of beloved ones

Srinagar, March 11, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Association of Parents of Disappeared Persons (APDP) has demanded whereabouts of their beloved ones subjected to enforced disappearance by Indian forces in Kashmir since 1990.

The APDP in a statement issued in Srinagar said successive regimes have denied phenomena of enforced disappearances. There has been little movement towards credibly investigating complaints, including into sites of mass graves in Kashmir and Jammu region.

“We reiterate our demand for ratification of International Convention for protection of all persons from enforced disappearances. The ratification will help bring out the special nature and circumstances in which such crimes are perpetrated and will make more evident the multiple rights violated as a result of an enforced disappearance,” the statement said.
