APHC-AJK meets to discuss sham polls in IOK

Islamabad, April 29, 2019 (PPI-OT): The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir chapter held a meeting in Islamabad, today, to discuss the ongoing so-called Indian parliamentary elections in occupied Kashmir. Convener, Syed Abdullah Gilani chaired the meeting. The participants of the meeting termed the sham elections in the occupied territory as illegal, immoral and against the resolutions of the United Nations.

The Hurriyat leaders said the people of occupied Kashmir have always rejected the Indian election dramas, adding this year too they have described the elections a futile exercise and stayed away from it. They said the people of Kashmir proved that they have not given sacrifices for the so-called election process but have been struggling for last several decades to secure their birth right to self-determination.

They said the United Nations in its resolutions have already held these elections illegal but India, to hoodwink the international community, is holding such dramas in the occupied territory. They said the farcical elections in the presence of lakhs of Indian troops in no way can be alternative to right to self-determination.

The participants of the meeting also expressed concern over the harassment of the Hurriyat leaders by the Indian infamous National Investigation Agency (NIA) and said that India could not suppress the ongoing liberation movement through such cheap means.

The Hurriyat leaders urged the international community to take notice of Indian state terrorism in occupied Kashmir and put pressure on India to resolve the lingering Kashmir dispute in accordance with the Kashmiris’ aspirations. At the end of the meeting, prayers were offered for Kashmiri martyrs.
