APHC condemns arrest spree in IOK

Srinagar, July 27, 2018 (PPI-OT):In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference has strongly condemned the arrest spree unleashed by Indian police and troops in various areas saying that the authorities have waged a war on the people of the territory.

The APHC in a statement issued in Srinagar said that Hurriyat leader, Bashir Ahmed Qureshi, was arrested and lodged in Sopore police station. “Police during night raids harassed family members of pro-freedom leader, Muhammad Rafiq Ganai, who was released a few weeks back after prolonged detention in various jails, however, police is again raiding his residence and harassing the inmates,” it said.

Indian Army and police have intensified the night raids in entire central Kashmir and have formally launched a crackdown on resistance leadership and common youth, the APHC said. It said that APHC leader, Muhammad Yusuf Falahi, was arrested during mass uprising in 2016, however, his bail plea was rejected without assigning any proper reason. “It is a murder of justice. The biased approach of judiciary is more painful,” the statement said. The APHC maintained that suppressive measures by India could not prevent the resistance leaders from taking the ongoing freedom movement to its logical conclusion.
