Srinagar, August 08, 2021 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference has expressed deep concern over the plight of incarcerated Hurriyat leaders and activists, languishing in different jails of India and the territory. APHC General Secretary, Molvi Bashir Ahmed Irfani in a statement issued in Srinagar condemned the inhuman treatment meted out to the prisoners of conscience, illegally detained on flimsy grounds.
He lauded the unwavering steadfastness displayed by the freedom loving leaders, including Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Mohamed Yasin Malik, Masarrat Aalam Butt, Dr. Shafi Shariati, Dr Qasim Fakhtoo, Dr. Hamid Fayaz, Aasiya Andrabi, Dr. Gh. Mohamad Butt, Ayaz Akbar, Alltaf Ahmad Shah, Pir Saifullah, Raja Merajudin Kalwal, Ameer Hamza, Mohamed Yousuf Mir, Mohamed Yousuf Falahi, Fahmida Sofi, Nahida Nasreen, Shazia Akhter, Hasina Behum, Saaima, Insha Tariq, Hina Bashir, Mehbooba Shafqat, Sayiqa Akhter, Aasiya Bano, Alas Ara, Unjman Younus, Tubassm Maqbool, Nazir Ahmad Sheik (lifer), Tariq Ahmad Butt, Mohamed Ayoub Dar, Mohamed Ayoub Mir, Shekat Ahmad Khan, Mehmood Topiwala, Aftab Hilali, Shahid Yousaf, Shakeel Yousaf, Zahoor Watali, Nayeem Khan, Farooq Ahmad Dar, Mohamed Rafiq Ganaie, Showkat Hakim, Tariq Pandit, Aadil Zargar, Gazanfer Iqbal, Arif Wani, Rashid Sehraie, Mujahid Sehrai, Nazir Pathan and others.
The APHC leader urged the United Nations Council for Human Rights and other international human rights organizations including Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, International Red Cross Committee to impress upon India to allow them to visit the said jails and take on spot observation of the pathetic situation faced by the detainees, who have been deprived of their fundamental rights behind the bars. While demanding the early intervention by the United Nations Council for Human Rights regarding the plight of detainees, he said that all the prisoners of conscience have been illegally detained without any legal trial and their detention period is prolonged on one pretext or the other.
The Hurriyat leader demanded high level probe under the auspices of United Nations Secretary General and the International Court of justice regarding the human rights abuses and delaying tactics in granting justice to the prisoners languishing in Indian jails without any legal trial.
