The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has said that India is resorting to brutal military tactics in an attempt to quash the legitimate struggle for right to self-determination of the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesperson Advocate Abdul Rashid Munhas, in a statement following a Hurriyat meeting in Srinagar, said participants reaffirmed their belief that India’s repressive measures will fail to suppress the voices of the Kashmiri people for freedom.

The meeting condemned India’s ongoing military presence in Kashmir, stating, ‘Anyone who raises a voice against Indian forces’ oppression is silenced through torture and other coercive measures.’

During the meeting, APHC voiced concern over India’s oppressive policies aimed at instilling fear across the territory, with a long-term plan to alter the territory’s demographic composition.

‘India’s goal is to suppress the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination by force,’ noted the meeting.

The APHC meeting further highlighted India’s widespread use of draconian laws such as the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), Public Safety Act (PSA), and Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA), which grant Indian forces excessive powers without accountability.

APHC leaders called upon the international community to address India’s human rights abuses in the occupied territory and pressure New Delhi to revoke these oppressive laws.

In addition, the APHC expressed grave concern over the plight of prominent political prisoners, including Chairman Masarat Aalam Butt, Shabir Ahmad Shah, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Aasiya Andrabi, Naheeda Nasreen, Fehmeeda Sufi, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Ayaz Akbar, Pir Saifullah, Merajuddin Kalwal, Shahid-ul-Islam, Farooq Ahmed Dar, Bilal Siddiqi, Molvi Bashir Irfani, Ameer Hamza, Dr. Hameed Fayaz, Mushtaqul Islam, Abdul Ahmad Parra, Noor Muhammad Fayaz, Hayat Ahmed Butt, Zaffar Akbar Butt, Muhammad Yousuf Falahi, Dr. Muhammad Qasim Fakhtoo, Dr. Muhammad Shafi Shariati, Rafiq Ahmad Ganai, Fayaz Hussain Jaferi, Advocate Mian Abdul Qayoom, Advocate Nazir Ahmed Roonga, Advocate Muhammad Ashraf Butt, Advocate Muzaffar Qayoomand others, demanding their immediate release from unlawful detention.
