APHC leaders pay tributes to martyrs of Handwara massacre

Srinagar, January 25, 2023 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference leaders, Khadim Hussain and Sibte Shabbir Qummi, have paid glowing tributes to the victims of Handwara massacre on their 33rd martyrdom anniversary. At least 21 Kashmiris were killed and dozens others were injured after Indian troops opened fire on peaceful protesters in north Kashmir’s Handwara town on this day in 1990. The demonstrators were protesting against the mass killing of innocent people by Indian troops a few days ago in Gaw Kadal area of Srinagar.

Khadim Hussain and Sibte Shabbir Qummi in a joint statement issued in Srinagar, today, said the brutal killing of peaceful protestors in Handwara is another black spot on the face of so-called Indian democracy. They said the sacrifices of the Kashmiri martyrs are a valuable asset of the freedom movement and it is the result of these sacrifices that the Kashmir dispute has become the focus of attention at the global level.

They maintained that India has failed to suppress the freedom spirit of Kashmiris despite the endless killings. They reaffirmed the Kashmiris’ resolve to take the Kashmiri martyrs’ sacred mission to its logical conclusion, against all odds.
