APHC terms General Rawat’s statement cruel joke

Srinagar, July 01, 2018 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has expressed anguish over the Indian Army Chief, General Bipin Rawat’s statement about his ‘people-friendly’ military operations and termed it as a cruel joke. The APHC in a statement issued in Srinagar said that on one hand the Indian forces had waged a war against the people of Kashmir where killing, maiming, frequent arrests and torture had become a routine matter and on the other the Indian army general termed the inhuman and vile operations as people-friendly.

Condemning such false statements contrary to the ground realities it said that the people of Kashmir were living a miserable life under the shadow of an undeclared martial law especially, during the past thirty years. “People are best judges of their day to day life. They know where the shoe pinches,” it added.

It said: “Resistance movement for right to self-determination is an indigenous movement fully supported by the people of Kashmir so the General Rawat’s statement does not match with the ground situation, where the Indian forces engage their military might to suppress the people’s genuine voice for their birthright and hence are subjected to worst form of human rights violations at the hands of forces.” The APHC said, “General Bipin Rawat should read writing on the wall and apprise his political leadership to shun rigidity and accept the legitimate formula of right to self-determination.”

Meanwhile, APHC, while paying tributes to the victims of Chatpora, Pulwama and Keran Kupwara, said that the precious sacrifices rendered by youth for the sacred cause of right to self-determination had placed responsibilities on Kashmiris to carry the movement to its logical conclusion. On the directions of Syed Ali Gilani a delegation led by Bashir Ahamad Andrabi visited the residence of slain young student Faizan Ahmad at Ladu in Pampore.

APHC Secretary General, Ghulam Nabi Sumji in a statement expressed his grave concern over horrendous situation, prevailing in occupied Jammu and Kashmir as a result of deployment of heavy contingents of military and police force against the civil population and political activists to suppress their legitimate and democratic voice for Right to Self Determination. He termed it a military action to trample down the right to live a dignified life and freedom of expression. Hurriyat leader Musaddiq Aadil in a statement also condemned the killing of the boy.
