Arrest, house detention of political leaders in IOK flayed

Srinagar, January 04, 2018 (PPI-OT):In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has condemned the continued illegal detention and house arrest of Hurriyat leaders and activists. The APHC in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the puppet authorities had virtually imposed martial law in the territory where the resistance leaders were denied political space.

It said that the APHC Chairman Syed Ali Gilani had been in continued house detention for past eight years and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai had again been placed house arrest while Hurriyat leaders, Ghulam Ahmed Gulzar, Molvi Bashir Ahmed Irfani, Muhammad Yasin Attai and Syed Imtiyaz Haider were detained in police stations.

The APHC said that the puppet authorities had turned the whole territory into a big prison. It said that since the inception of present puppet regime, the authorities had surpassed all previous records of brutalities and human rights violations. Meanwhile, Syed Ali Gilani in a statement in Srinagar expressed grief over loss of property during a devastating fire incident in Sopore in which a restaurant and dozens of business establishments were gutted.
