Karachi, July 02, 2018 (PPI-OT): Provincial Caretaker Minister for Irrigation, Inter Provincial Coordination, Public Health Engineering, Rural Development, Excise and Taxation Mushtaq Ahmed Shah has said that in Public Health Engineering Department Sindh there are 64 on-going development schemes at the cost of Rs. 8625.40, out of which 49 are in communication sector, 4 are in water sector ,08 are in sanitation sector and 3 are in housing and community amenities sector.
This he said while presiding over a meeting of Public Health Engineering and Rural Development Department Sindh here in his office on Monday. Secretary Public Health Engineering and Rural Development Dr. Riaz A.Memon, DG R. D. D. Hyderabad Akhtar Ali Qureshi, Chief Engineer Khalil Ahmed Soomro and Director Design Eng: M. Akbar Baloch also attended the meeting.
He was also informed that as many 129 schemes were going on in Rural Development Department at the cost of Rs.20260.673 millions, out of which 52 were water supply schemes and 77 were in Drainage Sector. He said that we were giving priority to complete on going schemes within time so that the people might get benefit of these schemes.
The Caretaker minister Mushtaq Shah added, ‘Polluted water is a major factor of malnutrition in Sindh and we must address the issue on priority basis to save our future generation’. Secretary PHE and RD Riaz Memon told the caretaker minister that a software was in final stage and it would help to get update on any on-going schemes across the province. The caretaker minister Mushtaq Shah suggested to establish a comprehensive monitoring system to keep an eye on on-going schemes and it would also help to maintain transparency. It was also decided in the meeting that a certain amount might be allocated at grass root level to repair minor machineries to run the affairs smoothly.
