ISLAMABAD:The Secretary General of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly and other like-minded countries have warmly welcomed and endorsed the stance of Pakistan on different issues including promotion of education and poverty alleviation.

According to a Radio Pakistan’s report quoting a press release, the appreciation came during a visit of the Pakistani delegation, led by Senator Sania Nishtar, which recently attended the Asian Parliamentary Assembly's Standing Committee on Economic and Sustainable Development meeting in Manama, Bahrain.

The delegation engaged in productive sideline bilateral meetings with esteemed counterparts from Iran, Qatar, Indonesia, and Turkiye. During the bilateral meetings, a wide range of issues were discussed, with particular focus on education, poverty eradication, and the establishment of forums to foster the exchange of parliamentary best practices, knowledge, and experience.

The delegation emphasized Pakistan's position on the illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir by India. The delegation informed that Pakistan's parliament is committed to fostering regional cooperation, sustainable development, and the pursuit of shared goals for the betterment of all nations.
