ATC sends JSQM Chairman on two days remand

KARACHI: An Anti-terrorism Court (ATC) Karachi on Wednesday send Jeay Sindh Qaumi Muhaz (JSQM) Chairman Sanan Khan Qureshi on two days judicial remand in a case pertaining to violence in Bahria Town Karachi (BTK).

JSQM Chairman was produced before the ATC Clifton branch where a large number of policemen and rangers were deployed to face any untoward situation. While JSQM members and Qureshi’s supporters were also present outside court. During the hearing, ATC Judge asked that where Sanan Khan Qureshi is. At which, Qureshi stood up and argued with the judge. “I have been tortured, harassed during custody,” he told the court.

He stated that they believe in non-violence politics and they have nothing to do with the incident that happened in Bahria Town. He stated when he was already in the custody of law enforcement agencies then why police and rangers raided his house last night and tortured his family members? The court send him on two days judicial remand and adjourned the hearing.

It may be noted that Qureshi was allegedly taken away by law enforcement agencies on Monday 7th June after protest demonstration outside BTK which turned into violence as shops and market was set ablaze by angry men.
