The Cabinet of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) has approved the new budget for the fiscal year 2025-26, focusing on welfare and development. The decision was taken during the 31st cabinet meeting held in Muzaffarabad under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq.

Not only was the new financial plan adopted in this budget session, but last year’s amended budget and the Finance Bill 2025 were also approved. The meeting was attended by senior ministers, cabinet members, the Chief Secretary, and other key figures, reflecting the high level of attention given to the budget.

During the meeting, the AJK government’s Finance Secretary provided details of last year’s revised budget and forecasts for the coming year. Additionally, the Secretary of Inland Revenue presented a detailed proposal on the Finance Bill. These discussions set the stage for strategic financial policies in the region.

Prime Minister Haq emphasized the need for a budget that focuses on the immediate needs of the people, using this platform. He highlighted education and health as key priority sectors for the administration, deeming them essential for long-term prosperity. The Prime Minister expressed his administration’s commitment to maintaining fiscal prudence while addressing economic concerns.

Prime Minister Haq stressed the improvement of financial issues and detailed plans for effectively reallocating resources towards social welfare programs. He assured continuous improvements in public services and relief measures for residents, considering the strengthening and modernization of institutions crucial for sustainable development. The Prime Minister’s assurances also included the government’s promise to promote regional development and reduce poverty through equitable distribution of funds.
