Azad, Soz booked for ‘seditious’ remarks against army

New Delhi, June 30, 2018 (PPI-OT): A sedition complaint has been filed in a Delhi court against pro-India Kashmiri leaders, Ghulam Nabi Azad and Saifuddin Soz, for their statements against the Indian Army. Media reports said that the complaint was filed by advocate Shashi Bhushan at the Patiala House Court in Delhi.

Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad had recently said that “more civilians were being killed in Army operations in Kashmir than militants”. In his plea, the petitioner claimed that the remarks were painting the Indian Army as killers of innocents which was nothing less than waging war against the country. The complaint also said that the former puppet chief minister, Mehbooba Mufti, was spreading hatred and was trying to malign India’s image.

Former Indian minister, Saifuddin Soz, had last week said that ‘aazadi’ is not possible in Kashmir and the only way forward is for all stakeholders to sit together and hold a vigorous dialogue to solve the problem. The ruling BJP, which had recently ended its alliance with Mehbooba Mufti-led PDP and pulled out of the coalition regime in occupied Kashmir, had demanded action against Azad and Soz for their remarks.
