Khalid Kubdani Advocate on Saturday called for the immediate release of Dr Mahrang Baloch and other leaders of the Baloch Yekjehti Committee, following their arrest during a police action on Sariab Road.
Addressing a press conference at the Quetta Press Club, Kubdani alleged that law enforcement targeted unarmed Baloch men and women during the crackdown. He held the authorities responsible for the arrest of multiple committee members, including Dr. Baloch.
He criticized the operation against peaceful protesters and claimed that incidents of lawlessness had escalated in Balochistan.
Kubdani further accused security forces of killing Baloch youth in staged encounters. According to him, thirteen bodies recovered were not of militants but of missing persons who had been forcibly disappeared.
He questioned the practice of not handing over the bodies to the families if those killed were indeed terrorists. He also pointed out that desecration of bodies had no justification under any law or religion.
Drawing a comparison, he recalled that tea was offered to an Indian pilot upon his capture, while Baloch youths were being killed without due process.
