Balochistan CM shocked over rising deaths in gas leakage incident

 

QUETTA: Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo, while expressing grave concern over the rising death tolls in Quetta city due to gas related incidents, has demanded federal government to take notice of the irresponsible behaviour of Sui Southern Gas Company Limited, according to a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Secretariat here on Wednesday.

He said that low gas pressure had placed the lives of the citizens of Quetta city in jeopardy, adding that more than ten people had so far lost their lives in different gas related incidents during the last few days. Bizenjo said that gas facilities in extreme cold weather was not available to the citizens, adding that Balochistan had been catering to the gas requirements of the country for the last many years.

He said discriminatory behaviour with regard to the provision of gas was not tolerable in extreme cold weather. Today when the provincial government contacted the office of SSGCL, no responsible person was available, he said. Demanding Prime Minister and Federal Minister for Energy for taking immediate notice of the issue, he said anger existed among the people due to non-availability of gas, creating thereby law and order situation in the province.
