Balochistan CS chairs meeting to ensure SOPs against Covid

QUETTA:A meeting with Chief Secretary Balochistan, Captain (Retd) Fazeel Asghar in the chair was held on Saturday to ensure implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) prescribed for combating COVID-19 pandemic.

The meeting reviewed matters relating to the role to be played by religious scholars to create awareness among the masses regarding COVID-19 and other related issues. It was attended by Additional Chief Secretary, Home and Tribal Affairs Department, Hafiz Abdul Basit, Additional Inspector General of Police, Jahanzeb Jogezai, Additional Secretary, Health Department, Tariq-ur-Rehman, Deputy Commissioner Quetta Major (Retd) Aurangzeb Badini, religious scholars of different school of thoughts and others.

Addressing the meeting, Captain (Retd) Fazeel Asghar said COVID-19 pandemic was rapidly spreading across the country, hence, it was the responsibility of all and sundry to follow SOPs prescribed by the government for combating COVID-19 pandemic.

He said, “The only solution to get rid of novel corona virus lies in taking preventive and precautionary measures.” He said the incumbent provincial government was taking all measures to combat COVID-19 pandemic and government run hospitals were provided with ambulances, ventilators and medicines.

On the occasion, he issued directions to the concerned authorities to seal shopping malls, marriage halls and other business centres found defying SOPs. Urging religious scholars to play their role against COVID-19, he said religious scholars could play a significant role to create awareness among people regarding the threat posed by novel corona virus.

He said in order to seek the blessing and forgiveness of Allah Almighty, Youm-e-Istighfar would be observed on Friday. On the occasion, religious scholars assured their assistance to create awareness among the masses against COVID-19.
