QUETTA:The Balochistan government Tuesday extended the lockdown for another two weeks in view of the mounting coronavirus cases across the province.
This was announced by Balochistan government’s spokesperson Liaquat Shahwani in a Twitter message. He said in the message: “COVID-19 is rapidly spreading in Balochistan. The only medicine and solution so far has proven to be isolation, social-distancing and lockdown, hence, the Balochistan government has decided to extend Lockdown for further 15 days till 19th May.”
According to the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulation, and Coordination data by Tuesday morning, a total of 1,321 coronavirus cases have been detected in Balochistan as compared to 7,882 in Sindh, 8,103 in Punjab, 3,288 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 464 in Islamabad, 372 in Gilgit-Baltistan, and 71 in Azad Kashmir.
So far 22 people have died in the province since the outbreak of the viral disease while 191 virus-infected people have recovered. Earlier, Balochistan government had extending lockdown till May 5 due to curb the spread of the coronavirus amidst rising numbers of cases.
