‘Barriers to Accelerate Career’ – Open Mic for Women

Lahore, October 25, 2018 (PPI-OT): In an effort to promote women empowerment and boost career growth, Peaceful Pakistan and Herself, initiatives of Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) collaborated with Google’s ‘Womenwill’ held an open mic session here today.

The event focused working women in particular to help them learn ways to manage career and family life successfully while focusing on the themes of Time Poverty, Patriarchal Factors, Guilt, and Absence of Communities. Barriers to Accelerate Growth also supported free of cost stalls by women startups to help build effective public relations and enhance business growth. Ms Saima Shaikh, Director Training and Development at Punjab Information Technology Board presided over the panel discussion and underlined the need to create awareness among the women to contribute their abilities for their economic uplift.

Keynote speakers Hina Butt – MPA and Fashion Designer, Marriam Khokar – Senior Vice President KOBEC Health Sciences, Ayesha Lari – Eminent HR Professional, and Sabirina Mushtaq – Academic Coordinator and Consultant shared their success stories to acquaint the attendees with tactics and skills to overcome challenges so to emerge as successful working women.

In addition to this, the hosts Fatimah Agha – Program Manager Herself and Anum Sadiq of Google Womenwill introduced their respective initiatives to the attendees in order to encourage and motivate them to work fearlessly in their respective professions. Maira Zubair – Social Media Manager Peaceful Pakistan, while introducing the noble cause of Peaceful Pakistan, stressed on the fact that women empowerment is the key to building a progressive and peaceful nation. Hence, women empowerment is not only crucial for personal growth but for the progress of the entire nation.
