Barrister Murtaza Wahab for Building Disaster resilient Nation

Karachi, October 08, 2018 (PPI-OT): Advisor to Chief Minister Sindh for Information, Law and Anti-corruption Murtaza Wahab has emphasized upon comprehensive plan to cope with natural calamities and guidelines for general public to minimize damages to life and properties during the days of emergency.

While addressing the walk organized to mark the national disaster day by PDMA Sindh at Sea View on Monday, Provincial advisor added that 8th October was not only a day to remember earth quake victims but it is call for government and communities to take necessary measures for building disaster resilient nation to deal future natural disasters, project approved for high level street to safe the life of peoples and the Fire Tenders also purchase across the Sindh.

He called upon media to play its role to raise awareness among the masses through educating common man about Disaster preparedness and responses. Barrister Murtaza Wahab said that floods, torrential rains and drought were major challenges faced by Sindh province. “In 2010 during massive floods, Sindh government had gone through huge exercise to rescue millions of flood hit people of ten districts of the province and successfully completed rehabilitation process,” the provincial advisor said and added that Sindh government was taking measures to transform PDMA Sindh into a well-equipped professional body so that quick and timely response could be initiated in case of any disaster to minimize the losses.

Provincial advisor on the occasion remembered the people of 2005 earth quick disaster and paid rich tributes to martyrs and expressed solidarity with families who bear great losses. Secretary Rehabilitation also spoke on the occasion. On the occasion candles were also lit in memory of 2005 earth quick victims. The walk was attended by a large number of people from different walks of life. Secretary Rehabilitation Sindh was also present in the walk.
