Bilawal asked to help cancer patient

LARKANA:Wife of a pushcart vendor is suffering from cancer, hepatitis and other ladies ailments and due to lockdown, her husband is even unable to earn livelihood to feed their children and get her treatment.

This was learnt here on Tuesday. Begum Khatoon wife of Ramzan Shaikh, resident of Phulpota village, near Naundero, is also infected with hepatitis and other ladies ailments but she could not get her medical treatment due to worst poverty. Her miseries and woes multiplied when government imposed lockdown across the province due to which her poor daily wager husband was rendered unemployed. Her husband is a vendor selling toys and other material in villages to earn a livelihood for supporting his family. Their children are also suffering from various dreaded diseases and there is nobody to get them treated at any government hospital.

While talking to this Scribe, Ramzan said that he took his wife to LINAR Cancer Hospital in Larkana but they demanded Rs 11000 for various tests adding he returned after hearing the amount of for tests. He said had he this much amount my children would not have passed days in hunger and miseries which is tragic.

He said his five daughters and one son are also suffering from different deadly diseases but he has no resources to even take them to the hospital for treatment. He said whenever he goes to government hospital he is always asked by the doctors to get her treatment at private clinics which I cannot afford at all. He said lockdown has broken my back and multiplied my woes. He said neighbours are giving them free food in the village or else we would have died long ago due to starvation and hunger. He said his entire family is suffering but there seems nobody to help them.

His daughter Humera said that poverty is the greatest sin for them in today’s world. She asked journos “why were we born poor” adding “if we were born poor then why God gave us so much ailments and diseases treatment of which is beyond our consideration and imagination”. Her words brought tear in their eyes.

The poverty-ridden family has urged PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah to get them treated at any suitable hospital as they have been constantly voting for their party and earn their prayers. The family is living within the constituencies of MNA Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and MPA Faryal Talpur.
