Peshawar: The first meeting of the Board of Governors BoG of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Judicial Academy is scheduled to be held today 15th February 2012 in the Peshawar High Court, Peshawar.
Mr. Justice Dost Muhammad Khan, the Chief justice of the Peshawar High Court, who is the Chairman of the Board will chair the meeting. The Board comprises of high level judicial officers and bureaucrats like Senior Puisne Judge Mr. Justice Attaullah Khan, the Director General Mr. Hayat Ali Shah, registrar, Additional Registrar and Member Inspection Team of the High court and the Additional Chief Secretary, Secretaries Finance and Law Departments and Principal/Dean Khyber Law College the University of Peshawar.
Key items appearing on the agenda are finances, necessary repair and rehabilitation of the old sessions court building where the academy is presently housed, appointment of faculty and staff, transport facilities, acquisition of land for permanent premises and hiring of boarding and lodging facilities for trainees.
The academy has been recently established through an Act of the Provincial Legislature. The need for such like institute has been felt since long. In 2008, the Peshawar High Court established a Judicial training centre, quickly followed by efforts to convert it into a fully fledged academy.
Soon after assuming the charge of his office, the incumbent Chief Justice geared up his efforts to materialize the dream. The academy will provide training not only to the Judges and their staff, but also to lawyers, police investigators, prosecutors, prison officials, and probation and parole personnel. The training will ensure better justice service delivery.
