Karachi, October 05, 2018 (PPI-OT): All out efforts must be ensured to successfully complete the Bye Election process, to be held on 14th and 21st October 2018, in Karachi and Khairpur, for 02 National Assembly seats on 03 Provincial Assembly Seats, in accordance with the PEC code of conduct. These instruction were issued by the Chief Secretary Sindh Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah, while presiding a high level meeting regarding bye lection of 05 seats in Sindh comprising 02 of National Assembly 03 of Provincial Assembly of those (05) 04 in Karachi and 01 in Khairpur.
The Chief Secretary noted that the Sindh Govt. would leave no stone to facilitate and assist the Provincial Election Commission, in conducting the Bye-Election, in all five (05) constituencies viz, NA-243 and NA-247, PS-30 Khairpur-V, PS-87 Malir and PS-III, Karachi South-V.
Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah stressed the need of implementing the PEC Code of Conduct, with a view to completing the Bye-Election process peacefully, and transparently. He maintained that the Sindh Administration shall play a vital role in this regard in association with LEO, (Law Enforcing Agencies), while he advised the concerned authorities for installation of CCTV Cameras on 1490 polling stations including all sensitive polling stations and booths.
The Chief Secretary advised the Commissioners of Karachi and Sukkur to hold meetings with Deputy Commissioners and DIGs/SSPs for completion of the Bye-Election task, sufficiently. The C.S. also asked the Health Department to ensure health and medical facilities around the electoral areas, to facilitate the needy people.
It may be mentioned that NA-243 Karachi East has been vacated by the resignation of Imran Khan, while NA-247 Karachi South II, vacated by Arif Alivi, who have been elected as Prime Minister and President respectively. PS-III Karachi South-V, includes in Bye-Election due to resignation of Imran Ismail, Governor Sindh.
The Bye-Election for NA-243 Karachi East-II, PS-30 Khairpur-V and PS-87 Malir-I shall be conducted on 14th October 2018, and for NA-247 Karachi South-II and PS-III Karachi South V, will be held on 21st October 2018.
Those who attended the meeting include Provincial Election Commissioner M.Yousuf Khatak, IGP Sindh Kaleem Iman SMBR Muhammad Hussain Syed, ACS Health M.Usman Chahar, Secretary Home A. Kabeer Kazi, Commissioner Karachi Sualeh Farooqui, Commissioner Sukkur M. Rafeeq and other senior officers. The Deputy Commissioners of the Districts where Bye-Elections are being conducted, have been assigned the responsibilities to work as District Monitoring Officer.
