Caretaker Minister for Environment, Law and Information holds meeting with representatives of Trade and Business Association and ABAD

Karachi, July 14, 2018 (PPI-OT): Caretaker Minister for Environment, Law and Information Jameel Yusuf had held a meeting with all representatives of trade and Business association and ABAD at his Assembly building office here today. Additional Chief secretary Environment Mukhtiar Soomro, Secretary Law Abdul Raheem Soomro Director General EPA Naeem Mughal also attended while Mr Zubair Motiwala, Gulzar Firoz, Cap Retd A. Moiz Khan, Qaiser Waheed and others also attended the meeting.

Addressing the meeting, care taker Minister Environment Jameel Yusuf has said that today we gathered here to discuss the environmental and other social issues and set a strategy to resolve by sitting with all stakeholders to further promote the understanding by playing their individual role. Government is extending all possible cooperation and assistance to the industrialists at every level for boost the economy of the country and development of the province at large. He further said that instructions and directions had already been issued to respective departments to look into the laws pertaining to address the environment and other issues, it will be resolved on priority. Don’t waste the time, as and when required any assistance from the Government to the industrial sector and businessmen, it would also be provided without delay and hoped that the traders and association will also played their role in positive manner.

Secretary Environment Mukhtiar Soomro has assured that all traders association will be assisted to develop industrial sector’s, promotion and growth after consultation with them and ensure their participation at respective forum to settle all issues pertaining to industries , all NOC s will also be issued without further delay.

Secretary law Abdul Raheem Soomro has also said that to ascertain all ways and means under the recommendation of the meeting to implement the laws as per requirements. Water commission has also helped us to resolve the issues related to environment and traders will also helping and cooperated with the Government in this regard.\

Later the Minister Information, law and environment Jameel Yusuf talking to media, has said that today’s meeting is holding to discuss the issues of industrialist and businessmen to improve the environment, stressed the need of zoning of the areas designated for industrial and residential as per law and prior to environmental issues etc, as small industries had been established in residential areas which creates environmental issues and problems for which we all develop a friendly and conducive atmosphere.

He further said that all work did by the judiciary, it means our administration has been collapsed but it would be revived by doing and working properly for the betterment of the society as whole, to follow the rules and regulations and proper planning of the environment and other issues to take up all collectively.

Replying a question, the Minister Information reiterated the policy of the Caretaker Government, and its mandate to hold free, fair and peaceful elections in time on 25th July 2018. He categorically rejected the allegation on twitter and other social media application, that all contesting candidates and parties as well as their supporters are free to carry out their campaigns and activities but as per the code of the conduct issued by ECP, which was formulated with the consensus of all the political parties. He advised that all the candidates to approach the DROs and DMOs formally in case of any complaint , giving specific details and seek redressal of their grievances from the relevant forum in accordance with the law.

Moreover he said that installation of cameras in polling station, process had been started and 20,000 cameras would be installed in Sindh. Political parties not violate the code of conduct as agreed with ECP that they may use prescribed size of banners and panaflex , Imran Khan was also given warning over violation of such code of conduct, this election is all of us, so we will play our due role to hold free, fair and peaceful elections, he concluded.
