A key meeting was held here at the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Headquarters, Islamabad, on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Chairman CDA, Chief Commissioner Islamabad, and Director General Civil Defence Muhammad Ali Randhawa.
The meeting was attended by CDA board members, senior officials of Islamabad Administration, and CDA senior officers. During the meeting, officials were briefed on the progress of ongoing development projects in the federal capital.
Chairman CDA directed the timely completion of beautification and plantation work ahead of the inauguration of the Jinnah Square Murree Road Underpass Project. It was informed that landscaping work around the project has already commenced.
The briefing highlighted that an urban forest will be developed around the Murree Road Underpass to help reduce environmental pollution. The meeting also discussed the expansion of the Faizabad Interchange. It was briefed that the tender for the project has been issued, and construction activities will begin by next month.
To address traffic congestion in Islamabad, 20 critical locations have been identified. Out of these, issues at 11 locations have been resolved, while directives have been issued to address problems at the remaining nine spots.
To enhance the beauty of the capital, construction, maintenance, and renovation work is ongoing on major roads. It was briefed that painting and curb stone work is progressing rapidly.
Chairman CDA directed the swift completion of the design work for the underpass and expansion at Shaheen Chowk. Construction work is also ongoing at a fast pace for the establishment of a hostel and hospital at the National Police Academy, the briefing noted.
The upgradation work of the Pak Secretariat will commence shortly. The tendering process for installing modern and aesthetically pleasing LED lights on Margalla Road, Murree Road, Faisal Avenue, and the Diplomatic Enclave is underway.
Officials also informed the meeting that road infrastructure work, tree plantation, and LED installation is in progress for the beautification of the Diplomatic Enclave.
Chairman CDA instructed that a shopping center of international standards be established in the Diplomatic Enclave. He also called for a modern and culturally rich design for the entry and exit gates of the enclave.
Furthermore, Chairman Randhawa directed the speedy operationalization of the Gandhara Citizen Club and upgradation of the Sports Arena. Work on the upgradation of CDA Model Nursery is progressing rapidly.
The meeting was also informed that efforts to improve road infrastructure in Islamabad’s rural areas are underway. Chairman CDA instructed that a separate list be presented for projects transferred from PWD, including their physical and financial progress.
Detailed discussions were held on the development progress in various CDA sectors. The Chairman directed the speedy completion of works in Sector C14 and initiation of work in Sector C15.
Progress on development work in Sectors E12, I12, and Park Enclave was also reviewed. It was briefed that cost estimation and gate design for Park Enclave PhaseI and II have been completed.
Regarding Sector I15, officials informed that over 85% of development work has been completed and the work is progressing swiftly. Chairman CDA emphasized removing all obstacles in sector development on a priority basis to meet Islamabad’s housing needs and facilitate the launch of new projects.
