CDA launches developmental works in Islamabad, Kahuta Industrial areas

ISLAMABAD:Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Amer Ali Ahmed on Saturday said various developmental schemes have been initiated in the Islamabad and Kahuta Industrial areas to facilitate the industrialist community which is the backbone of the economy.

Talking to a delegation of Islamabad Industrial Association led by its President Tariq Sadiq, he informed that rehabilitation of the road linking Kahuta Industrial Triangle and streets within the industrial estate would cost Rs 374 million. He said that rehabilitation of many roads in I-9 and I-10 Industrial Areas along with Kahuta Triangle have been initiated including the important Islamabad Dry Port Road while maintenance of street lights in the industrial area had been started.

Amer Ali Ahmed said that an important Board meeting was on the cards with a single-point agenda to resolve the issue of lease renewal of the Industrial plots. CDA may allow setting up all the environment-friendly industries in Islamabad except for those which were in the negative list, he said, adding that they needed entrepreneurs that keep the environment first in their preferences as we cannot afford to have units posing a threat to ecosystems.

“We have a clear commitment to achieve industrial growth while protecting the environment, he underlined and also assured all-out cooperation regarding demand of open policy regarding Trade Change and non-conformity notices.” During the meeting, a decision was reached to form a joint advisory committee to assist Chairman CDA in matters confronting the industrialist community.

Sadiq said that CDA was supporting the industrial sector which would enhance the manufacturing sector’s contribution to the GDP and provide jobs. Other members of the delegation lauded the ongoing operation to remove encroachments and retrieve state land and demanded rehabilitation of roads of I-11 Sabzi Mandi and I-10 Service Road which was accepted by the Chairman CDA. SVP of IIA Omais Khattak, VP Shaukat Hayat, Shaukat Masood, Amir Waheed, Shaban Khalid, Atif Ikram, Nasir Qureshi, Zakria Zia, Chief Coordinator Malik Sohail Hussain and other industrialists were also present at the occasion.
