Residents in Islamabad have urged the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman to fully operationalize the electric bus route from Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) to Golra.

The incomplete implementation of this vital service is causing significant inconvenience for daily commuters, they said. Locals from Golra and nearby areas emphasized that this route is crucial for the city’s transport network but remains only partially active. They expressed their frustration to the Pakistan Press International (PPI), highlighting that despite the challenging launch of the service, it has not yet reached full functionality. Commuters are particularly concerned with the first bus departing at 9:00 AM, which they argue is too late for most. They are demanding earlier operations starting at 6:00 AM with buses running at 10-minute intervals to meet the public’s needs.

Additionally, commuters criticized the increased interval of the electric metro bus service from Bahara Kahu Jailani to Mandi Mor, which was extended from 15 to 30 minutes. They appealed for a reversal of this decision, citing increased crowding and delays as a result.

The shuttle service from Jailani to Satrah Meel has also seen changes, now running every 30 minutes instead of 15, coupled with a fare increase from Rs. 20 to Rs. 50. Passengers reported long waits at the Jailani terminal and noted that many are compelled to walk due to the infrequent service.

Protests have arisen, with locals demanding direct buses from Jailani to Satrah Meel or Imtiaz Store near Mandi Mor at more frequent intervals. They believe this adjustment would alleviate the burden of double fares and reduce travel delays.

There is also a growing call among residents for the extension of the Green Line bus service to reach Satrah Meel or Imtiaz Store, aiming to enhance connectivity in the area.
