Central American Countries acknowledged the efforts made by BISP to eradicate poverty from Pakistan

Islamabad, April 12, 2018 (PPI-OT): A conference on social innovation and inclusion held on 11th April, 2018 in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic attended by Vice Presidents of Panama, Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nica Ragya and Dominican Republic all countries from Central America and Caribbean. Ms. MarviMemon, Minister for State and Chairperson represented Pakistan, the only country invited from South Asia on special invitation of Vice President Dominican Republic.

Minister for State and Chairperson BISP, while highlighting the key achievements of BISP emphasized on the need for establishment of International Secretariat on inter-sectoral approach for social inclusion to serve the people who matter the most. She also highlighted that all linked sector should be involved in policy making and designing for successful implementation of social inclusion through the concept of inter-sectoral approach.

She further added that poverty has no boundary, no border on limitation and all countries should come up with the plan to compliment each other’s effort to serve the people in a better way. All countries whether South Asia, Latin America, Central America and Carrabin should adopt the inter-sectoral approach from humanitarian assistance to sustainable development by institutionalization. She alsohighlighted the need of technology based payment mechanism in cash transfer programs especially indisasters for rapid and transparent delivery to affected people.

She offered the services of BISP for helping other countries in establishing better payment systems based on lesson learnt in context of Pakistan. All participated countries acknowledged the efforts made by BISP and its current leadership to serve the poorest of the poor with dignity, meaning to life andempowerment. All countries agreed to work together to handle the common issues through inter-sectoral approach within the countries.
