Centre taking steps to promote industrialization: Governor

KARACHI: Development of industries is one of the top priorities of Prime Minister Imran Khan and the federal government is taking all possible steps to promote industrialization.

Sindh Governor Imran Ismail while presiding over a meeting of the Sindh Industrial Liaison Committee (SILC) at Governor House Karachi said that industries played a key role in the stability of the economy; and also in terms of development and prosperity as well as reduction in unemployment.

Federal Minister for Industries and Production Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar was also present on the occasion. Representatives of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) and presidents of different associations of industrial areas in Karachi attended the meeting.

Governor Sindh observed that many pertinent issues related to industries have successfully been resolved from the platform of Sindh Industrial Liaison Committee (SILC). He said that the enabling business environment played a pivotal role in attracting domestic and foreign investment. “The focus of the government is on improving the business climate with emphasis on job creation, skill development and sustainable growth by attracting new investment and nurturing the existing ones”, he added.

Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar maintained that Facilitation in investment is among the top priorities of the government and the government is removing impediments for industrial growth in the country. He said that the government had given priority to exports and for that every possible facility would be provided to the industry for increasing production. It is because of this reason special attention is being given to the development of export processing zones (EPZs), he said. Federal Minister for Industries also assured that the federal government would continue to extend maximum possible support and assistance to the industrial sector.
