Islamabad, January 23, 2019 (PPI-OT): Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Justice Javed Iqbal visited NAB Lahore Bureau, today, where a detailed briefing was given by Director General NAB Lahore Shahzad Saleem and his team regarding the ongoing progress made on Mega Corruption Cases. During the visit, Chairman NAB also addressed all Investigation Officers and Prosecutors of the Regional Bureau. On the occasion, Chairman NAB said that NAB gives priority to Mega Corruption Cases over other cases of corruption being probed in NAB, while NAB has been departing its duties according to Constitution and as per law.
NAB Investigation Officers should bring all investigations to their logical end through overgoing due process in accordance with law but the same must be purely based on solid evidence and on merit. He further maintained that NAB has not been related to any political party but NAB’s commitment is only with the state of Pakistan and people of Pakistan. He said that main aim of NAB is to recover looted money from corrupt elements and to deposit it in national treasury, while NAB’s first priority is to bring the corrupt elements before justice.
Chairman NAB further said that NAB believes in self respect of every person and while comparing to regular jail manual NAB stretches more facilities which are being provided to arrested accused in NAB Lock ups. Talking about the White Collar Crime, Chairman NAB said that NAB does not believe in any kind of victimization and torture as White collar crime is purely probed technically with state of art facilities on solid evidence, for which NAB’s Investigative Officers are being imparted regular training courses.
He said that where the law will be made according to the case, there will be cases on merit without caring for any kind of fear and pressure and where the case does not stands liable to being probed, the same will be closed in accordance with law. According to the instructions of chairman NAB, Complaint Desk has been set up in all the Regional Bureaus of NAB where Director along with his staff will listen to Complainants personally during the time 2 to 3 pm on daily basis.
Chairman NAB further said that the investigation of Fake Accounts Cases is mage Case in our history and probe of fake accounts case have been assigned to NAB by honorable Supreme Court of Pakistan which reflects the confidence over NAB, whereas, the anti corruption watchdog is to fulfill the confidence of honorable courts, NAB officers should work hard with absolute professionalism and on merit to conduct the case to its logical conclusion as per law. Chairman NAB appreciated the performance of NAB Lahore under the supervision of DG NAB Lahore and said that the performance of NAB Lahore always contributed towards the overall performance of NAB whereas NAB officers are advised to continue their efforts to conclude all Mega Corruption cases as per law.
