Lahore, March 03, 2022 (PPI-OT):Special Coordinator to Chief Minister and Chairperson Child Protection Bureau, Sarah Ahmad headed rescue operation against Child Beggary in different areas of Lahore to curb the menace of child beggary from Lahore. As many as 36 Child Beggars were taken into protective custody from different hotspots of Lahore i.e. Gulberg Main Market, Campus Bridge, Johar Town, Barkat Market, Akbar Chowk, Defence Chowk, Bhatta Chowk, Karim Block Market and MM Alam Road.
Talking to the media Chairperson, Sarah Ahmad briefed that Child Protection Bureau has launched a massive anti-child beggary campaign in Lahore and rescue operations are being conducted on daily basis. During the last two months more than 763 child beggars have been taken into custody, she added. She further added that she is monitoring this rescue campaign by herself and just in one year 7749 child beggars have been taken into custody.
Due to this operation, there is a visible decrease in child beggars in Lahore. She further added that team of the Bureau are conducting rescue operations against child beggary from 0900am to 0100am daily. The Bureau is providing education, health and boarding and lodging facilities to rescued child beggars for their rehabilitation.
These rescue operations are being conducted in all functional districts of the Child Protection Bureau, she added. Child Protection Bureau is lodging FIRs against the people, mafia or parents who deploy children for begging. General public can report child beggary on the Help Line 1121 of the Child Protection Bureau.
