Chief Justice of Pakistan takes notice of the illegal appointment / Malafide proposed extension of appointment of Chairman Sheikh Zayed Hospital, Lahore

Islamabad, April 02, 2018 (PPI-OT): The Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan Mr. Justice Mian Saqib Nisar has taken notice of illegal appointment / Malafide proposed extension of appointment of Chairman Shiekh Zayed Hospital, Lahore. Notice was taken on application of Dr. Muzammil Tahir, General Secretary, Medical Teachers Association, Sheikh Zayed Hospital, Lahore and Dr. Nasir Din, General Secretary, Allied Health Organization, Sheikh Zayed Hospital, Lahore, wherein it was stated that incumbent chairman Mr. Farid Khan was appointed as Chairman on recommendation of a politically titled search committee in violation of prevalent policy of Federation and Province.

Even otherwise Mr. Farid was a junior professor of Govt. of Punjab, but he was given BS-22 in a Federal Organization and was appointed as Chairman, negating all the legal requirements. Furthermore, nepotism and politically motivated polices of Mr. Farid Khan halted the smooth working of Sheikh Zayed Hospital. He also took major policy decision of making appointments and granting promotions and victimized many officers and officials who highlighted his corruption. He enjoined his tenure as Chairman from 10.04.2015 to 09.04.2018 and currently his tenure is being extended. The applicants prayed for justice.

Taking notice of the issue, the Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan has passed the following order:

Let this application be treated as a petition under Article 184(3) of the Constitution. Notice be issued to the Government of Punjab through Chief Secretary and Secretary Health. Notice be also issued to learned Advocate General, Punjab, Mr. Farid Khan, Chairman sheikh Zayed Hospital, Lahore and applicants. The matter be listed for hearing in the Court on 04.04.2018.
