Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif chaired the inaugural meeting of the Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority (PERA), setting a three-month target for making the body fully operational. The meeting approved key decisions, including the establishment of committees, appointment policies, and operational guidelines for PERA.

According to a CM office statement issued today, the Chief Minister emphasized transparency and merit in recruitment processes, directing the creation of an effective monitoring system to ensure accountability. Four committees-Administration and Logistics, Finance, Legal, and Technical-were approved to oversee the authority’s functioning.

The meeting sanctioned staff positions for PERA headquarters, divisional, district, and tehsil offices. Each tehsil will have a Sub-Divisional Enforcement Officer, Investigation Officer, Senior Sergeant, and Sergeant to streamline operations. Additionally, a hearing officer will be appointed for appeals at enforcement stations.

Significant policy decisions were also approved, including a transfer and deputation policy, procurement plan, and financial powers for the Director General of PERA. Branding elements such as uniforms, vehicle designs, and cap colors were also finalized.

A special committee was formed to review the operational framework and regulations of PERA for 2024, ensuring that all procedures align with its mission to address encroachments and control inflation effectively.

The Chief Minister underscored the importance of making PERA a functional and efficient institution within the stipulated timeline, reiterating her government’s commitment to good governance and public service.
