The most comprehensive transplantation program in the country’s history has been launched in Punjab. The Chief Minister Transplant Program has started for the common people.

According to Punjab Information Department statement today, under this program, five transplant operations will be completely free for the general public. Liver transplantation will be free under the Chief Minister Transplant Program. Kidney transplants will also be provided free of cost. Patients will not have to bear huge expenses for bone marrow transplants under this program.

For the first time in Punjab, common people will be able to undergo cornea transplants at government expense. The government will also provide cochlear implants for children born with hearing impairments. To benefit from the Chief Minister Transplant Program, registration with the Punjab Human Organ Transplantation Authority (PHOTA) is mandatory. After registering with PHOTA, liver, kidney, bone marrow, and cornea transplants can be conducted under the program.

Organ transplants will be available not only in government hospitals but also in selected private hospitals. A toll-free number, 0800-09009, has been made functional on the Chief Minister’s instructions for organ transplantation assistance.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif stated that the state cares for every citizen and will fulfill its duty. She emphasized that transplantation is a highly complex and expensive process that an ordinary person cannot afford, but now the state will bear this responsibility. She further added that after successful cochlear implantation, children will be able to live a normal life. The government will cover the costs of liver and kidney transplants, ensuring that patients are not burdened.

Successful cornea transplants will enable visually impaired individuals to lead normal lives. The Chief Minister Transplant Program is a message of new hope and a new vision, aimed at improving the healthcare standards of Punjab’s citizens. It is time for everyone to support these initiatives and contribute to building a healthier and more prosperous Punjab.
