Chinese Ambassador calls on Federal Minister Birjees Tahir

Islamabad, January 24, 2018 (PPI-OT):Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan H.E Yao Jing called on the Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan Chaudhry Muhammad Birjees Tahir here in Islamabad today. The meeting discussed the bilateral relations and the issues pertaining to the regional peace, security and development. Appreciating the Chinese cooperation with Pakistan, the Federal Minister said that China had always been the time tested friend of Pakistan and it had practically proved on all occasions that the friendship between China and Pakistan was higher than Himalayas and deeper than oceans.

The Minister expressed his gratitude over long standing support of China to Pakistan on Kashmir issue. The Federal Minister said that the Indian forces had been inflicting the worst kind of brutalities against innocent people of the Indian occupied Kashmir (IOK) for last seven decades. The ferocity of violence being committed by the Indian occupied forces has been increasing against Kashmiri’s with passage of time. Indian occupied forces are martyring the youth of IOK in extra judicial killings in order to change the demography of the region and children of the occupied valley are being blinded by use of lethal pellet guns against them.

The Minister also highlighted the ever increasing ceasefire violations by the Indian forces on Line of Control (LOC) and said that Indian acts of violence in the region were great threat to the regional peace and security. The meeting also discussed the ongoing development projects being carried out with the Chinese cooperation. The Minister said that China’s One Road One belt was a phenomenal project that would transform the economies and lives of billions of people of this world.

He said that China Pakistan Economic Corridor CPEC project was a game changer project that would further strengthen the bilateral economic, cultural and political relations between both countries. The Ambassador said that Chinese people and government owned their deep relations with Pakistan and wanted to see Pakistan as a prosperous and developed country.

He said that China would continue its cooperation with Pakistan in all fields and wanted to extend its cooperation to Pakistan in small roads and hospitals project for wellbeing of the people especially in Gilgit Baltistan. The Ambassador said China would continue to support Pakistan on Kashmir dispute and believed that resolution of Kashmir issue was crucial for the regional peace and security and it should be resolved through peaceful means between Pakistan and India.

Highlighting the importance of CPEC project, the ambassador said that this project was set to change the destiny of this entire region. Earlier the Federal Minister welcomed H.E Yao Jing to his new assignment as Ambassador and wished that he would play even more active role in further strengthening the already deep bonded relations between both countries.
