A highpowered Chinese business delegation, led by Yao Yu, CEO of DongKai International Investment, held a pivotal meeting today with Federal Minister for Housing and Works, Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada, to discuss groundbreaking collaboration in Pakistan’s housing and construction sectors.
Representing a consortium of prominent construction and technology enterprises, the delegation expressed keen interest in introducing modern building technologies and investing in sustainable housing solutions across the country. The talks centered on advancing prefabricated and modular construction techniques-renowned globally for reducing costs and accelerating project timelines.
Minister Pirzada, joined by top ministry officials including Secretary Mr. Hamid Yaqub Sheikh, Additional Secretary, CEO of the Pakistan Housing Authority Foundation (PHAF), and Director General of the Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA), welcomed the delegation and reiterated Pakistan’s strong ties with China. He emphasized the government’s focus on adopting innovative housing models to meet growing urban demands.
Mr. Yao Yu presented stateoftheart construction methods and highlighted the consortium’s expertise in prefabricated housing solutions. He also proposed the establishment of a Dragon Martstyle commercial complex in Pakistan, inspired by the successful Dubai model. The proposed center would facilitate wholesale trade, bolster economic activity, support local SMEs, and create new employment avenues.
Presentations by PHAF and FGEHA outlined strategic investment zones across Islamabad, Quetta, Karachi, Peshawar, Gwadar, and GilgitBaltistan. They detailed joint venture opportunities and publicprivate partnership frameworks available for foreign investors.
Both sides concluded the session with a shared resolve to deepen bilateral cooperation, channel investments into transformative housing projects, and expand economic engagement through targeted development initiatives.
