Christians demands representation in Senate

Peshawar: Christian community of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa appealed to President Asif Ali Zardari to reserve seats for the Christians in Senate.

Shaukat Ghulam Advocate while addressing a news conference on Friday at Peshawar press club, said Christian community was leading portion of minorities in Pakistan but still they had no representation in the upper house.

He maintained out of total 10 seats of National Assembly Christian had only two seats. He appealed that in the upcoming Senate election seats should be reserved for the Christians.

Flanked by Victor Sadiq, Rauf Khurram, Iqbal Maseeh, Shakar Maseeh, Wilson and Junaid Saqib, he requested all the political parties to award senate tickets to the Christians.

He added that above 0.2 million Christians were living in KP province but still they had no representative in upper house.

They warn to boycott the next Senate Election if Christians were given representation in the Senate as well as in Provincial Assembly.
