Residents of Khairpur held a protest demonstration here on Sunday against the low pressure and load shedding of gas.
The citizen of Sirai Ghanwar Khan, Bachal Shah, Abid Colony, Altaf Colony, Shaheedabad, Munshi Mohalla, Jeelani Mohalla, and others of the city took to the streets and protested against gas authorities and chanted slogans against them.
The protesters said that in 80 neighborhoods of Khairpur, the pressure of gas during meal times had been not only lowered but sometimes, it had been nonexistent.
While protesting, the residents stated that they had submitted numerous requests to the Sui gas Zonal Manager, and despite multiple visits to the office, the gas pressure was never restored. They claimed that for several years, millions of rupees allocated for the repair of gas lines in Khairpur had only been shown on paper, and under the leadership of the Zonal Manager, the gas staff had neither fixed the gas line leaks nor repaired the gas lines.
The residents also stated that the Sui gas staff in Khairpur had also ignored the orders of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who had instructed that gas be supplied to domestic consumers from 5 AM to 10 PM.
The residents demanded that the gas pressure be increased for domestic users and that the load shedding be stopped. They also called for an honest investigation into the funds allocated over the years and accountability for the incompetent staff of Sui gas in Khairpur to alleviate the hardships of the citizens.
