(City): Two killed, seven injured in Karachi building collapse

Karachi:Two people were killed and seven others, including women and children, injured when a four-storey residential building collapsed in Korangi Crossing’s Allah Wala Town on Thursday.

Rescue teams rushed to the scene and recovered the bodies and injured from the debris. About 50 to 20 families were living in the rain-affected building. The injured include Nisha, 40, Nazish, 17, Ayub, 59, and Rani Iqbal, 35.

The authorities had directed the residents to vacate the building due to fear of its possibly fall. Several families had left the building but about two families were still living in it. Police and Rangers cordoned off the area for rescue operation.

Sindh Building Control Authority said that the building was illegally constructed. The building collapse has also damaged a nearby other building, a rescue team official said. The bodies and injured were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities and treatment, respectively.
