DALBANDIN: Civil society and right-based activists attended a memorial reference organized by Pakistan Institute of Labour Education and Research with allies to commemorate the services of Sharafat Ali for the labour and communities, today at Karachi Arts Council.

 

Joint Director of PILER Zulfiqar Shah was thankful to the attendees of memorial reference and recalled his relationship with Mr. Sharafat at PILER. Revered economists Dr. Kaiser Bengali recalled his services in Labour development of the country and research in social sector, they were together at various occasions during his entire career when Karamat Ali was roaming around the globe for the cause. We will always remember him with unforgettable memories, he added.

 

Speaking to the attendees, Karamat Ali stated that, we will consolidate a biography of his life and work with the aid of friends and colleagues. “What I have done in life, I would have not if Sharafat weren’t my brother”, Karamat revealed.

 

Karamat Ali further added that he was the one who was looking after the financial burdens of the family and his gigantic responsibilities were more than enough for my entire family, Karamat asserted. Labour unionists have to organize sector wise unions, instead of plant-based associations, executive director PILER stated.

 

In addition, Ms. Mehnaz Rahman of Aurat Foundation, Mr. Saeed Baloch of PFF, Mr. Liaquat Sahi, Nasir Mansoor of NTUF, Mr. Mir Zulfiqar trade unionist, Mr. Adam Malik of Pakistan Peace Cooalation, Mr. Shakeel Gangha of Jung Press Union, Mirza Maqsood of Pak Steel labour movement, Mr. Zahid Farooq of Urban Resource Center, Ms. Farhat Parveen of NOWCommunites, Mr. Qamrul Hasan of IUF, Dr. Jaffar Ahmed of Pakistan Study Center and other participants also shared their noble values and words in their beloved colleague’s commemoration

 

Meanwhile, Ms. Anis Haroon, Ms. Sheema kirmani, Mr. Shahram, Ms. Rubab Haider, Ms. Sonia Karamat and others also attended the reference via video link. Sharafat Ali left a huge impression in our lives, his commanding expertise in the subject was a symbol of embodiment for freedom of thoughts, human justice and labour movements, friends asserted.
