CM chairs 6th Governing body meeting of LDA

Lahore, August 17, 2021 (PPI-OT): The 6th LDA governing body meeting, held under Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar at his office, approved amendments in LDA Building and Zoning Regulations, 2019. According to the amendments, provision of parking, toilet and ramp facilities will be mandatory for differently-abled persons in new buildings and the maps will not be approved without these facilities. The CM stressed that this decision will apply to all the Authorities in Punjab.

The meeting gave conditional approval to budget estimates of 2021-22 of LDA, WASA and TEPA. The P and D Board, finance and housing departments will give final approval after review. The revised estimates of the 2020-21 budget of LDA, WASA and TEPA were passed along with the endorsement to promote urban forestation in LDA schemes. The miyawaki forest will be grown at 24 places through PHA in LDA Avenue One, Jubilee Town and Mohlanwal schemes.

The meeting decided to hold a fresh review of industrial utilization of land near Rohi nullah road. The CM directed that a committee be constituted under the housing secretary to submit final recommendations after consultations with stakeholders.

The construction of Masajid and releases of funds for LDA Avenue One, Jubilee Town and Mohlanwal schemes was approved while the duration of a commission set up for illegal housing schemes, unauthorised constructions and the bonafide purchaser was extended for six months.

A new vacancy of chief engineer in LDA was approved along with the consent to bridge-financing of Rs.500 million for LDA City Naya Pakistan Apartments. A decision will be made about the proposal of the joint ventures for LDA petrol pumps after the legal opinion of the law department. The meeting also confirmed decisions made in the 5th governing body meeting.

The CM said work has been started on mega projects adding that Shahkam Chowk, Sheranwala Gate flyover and Gulab Devi Hospital underpass projects will facilitate the people. Citizens will be further facilitated through new projects to be finalised in consultation with the parliamentarians, he added.

DG LDA Ahmad Aziz Tarar said approval of construction of 134 high-rise buildings is granted and issues relating to LDA Avenue One have been resolved. Meanwhile, 3rd balloting of the Jinnah Sector of LDA City will be held on September 04. Secretary Housing, Commissioner Lahore, VC WASA Sh. Imtiaz Mehmood, Sadia Sohail MPA, Secretary P and D Board, Secretary LG and others attended the meeting.
