CM chairs MoU signing ceremony between bop and PESSI for the launch of the Punjab Mazdur card scheme

Lahore, October 01, 2021 (PPI-OT):Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar attended an MoU signing ceremony between Punjab Employees Social Security Institutions (PESSI) and Bank of Punjab for the issuance of Punjab Mazdur Card to 1.1 million labourers. Earlier, the CM inaugurated the automation system of Rehmat Ul-Lil-Alameen Institute of Cardiology of social security hospital by unveiling the plague and inspected its various sections. He was told that patients will not be required to bring their medical reports or documents to this first paperless government hospital.

Provincial ministers Ansar Majeed Niazi, Raja Yasir, Mian Aslam Iqbal, labour secretary, BoP president, Chairman Punjab Social Healthcare Company Kh. Jalaluddin Roomi, commissioner PESSI and others were also present. Addressing the ceremony, the CM appreciated the automation system and announced to gradually automatize government hospitals across the province. The mazdur card could be utilized for different purposes including treatment in PESSI managed hospitals, government and private medical institutions on panel, he said.

Meanwhile, the recipients could benefit from 11 cash benefits and the registered workers would be able to avail of housing, employment, Ahsas, Kamiyab Noujawan and other initiatives of the government, he said. The labourers will also be given discounts through mazdur card, he further said. The CM asserted that workers welfare was a priority agenda and the government was striving hard for the welfare of the impecunious strata. The labourers play important role in the development process and provision of facilities was their right, concluded the CM.
